Day 10: Skype and Online Voice Conferencing Software
The agenda for day 10 is:
- Skype conference at 9:10 am. Make sure that you have sent me your skype name and have authorized me as a contact. I will place a conference call around 9:10. Pick up and we will spend some time trying out Skype. Remember, that you will need a microphone. Earbuds or headphones are also recommended so that your audio isn't broadcast back over the microphones. I will be in rm 128 in case people have any problems.
- Schedule speaking order for defense.
- Schedule Wednesday conference times.

Day 10: Skype Lab
In today's lab you should:
- Continue working on creating all of your sample artifacts for your technology project defense. When we meet in individual conferences this Wednesday, it would be best for all of your artifacts to be in a complete and polished for, so that if any revisions are necessary, you have time to complete them for Monday's defense.
- Please email me a brief bio and abstract for your project by Wednesday that you would like included in the defense program. Try to limit each to 50-100 words please.
- Complete any remaining work.

Day 9: Technology Integration Plan Lab
In today's lab, you should:
- Read the feedback I sent to you regarding your mid-term evals on the portfolios. Check your MSU emails if you have not seen them yet. Please make the suggested changes or talk to me about why you think the changes are unnecessary.
- Considering the feedback you received in class today regarding your technology integration plans, redraft your plan to reflect any changes you deem necessary.
- Look at the wiki gallery. If you do not have all of your links working up through the technology integration plan, please complete these asap.
- Begin working on the creation phase of your technology integration plan.
- By Friday, 12:00 noon, please email your SKYPE name so that I can add you to my contact list. You will have to authorize me. Please do so by Saturday, 12:00 Noon, so that we are ready to go Monday Morning at 9:10.
- Look through some of the user guides to SKYPE. At a minumum, check out "Add a Contact," "Make a conference call,"and "Chat & group chat."

Day 8: Mock Job Interviews / Portfolio Midterms Lab
In today's lab portion, you should:
- Review the course syllabus regarding the technology integration project. Be sure you understand how each of the three phases fit together and what is required of you in the technology integration plan
- If you haven't done so already, look through past technology integration plan examples. Keep in mind that the examples were written with different requirements, but they should help give you a flavor of the technological ideas past students have thought about.
- Write. On Wednesday, you have the polished version of your technology integration plan due.

Day 7: Collaborative Applications

Day 7 : Collaborative Applications Lab
In today's lab, we will:
- Go to Vyew and register to open your account.
- When logged in, click on the "Getting Started" Vyewbook to run through some sample exercise to learn some of the features of Vyew. You can find this link under the "My Vyewbooks" tab.
- I will invite all of you to a vyewbook, and we can spend some time collaborating together. You will need to check your email accounts to find your invitations.
- Open your Google Docs & Spreadsheets account. I will invite all of you to a document and we will play with it.
- Go to pbwiki and begin by taking the tour. Be sure to watch the video on what a wiki is, read through their white paper for educators, and view the PBwiki Features video.
- Create your own sample wiki using pbwiki. Create a link to your wiki on our wiki gallery.
- Create a post on your blog that discuss how you might draw on collaborative technologies.
- Polish up your web-portfolios. Mock-job interviews are on Monday, June 11th, and your portfolios will also receive their first evaluation.

Day 6: Adding Sound

- Brief groups discussion about your questions and comments regarding podcasting.
- Small group activity to brainstorm possible ideas for the technology integration plan. Groups should use the whiteboards to document their ideas for presentation to the class.
- Class presentation of tech integration plan possibilities. This presentation will be recorded using Audacity so that we can podcast it from our blogs.

Day 6: Adding Sound Lab
Today's lab will take place in two parts:
Part 1:
Part 1:
- Watch the tutorial on preparing your blog for podcasting.
- Burn your blog's feed with Feedburner so that it is capable of podcasting.
- Add the button through Feedburner so that people can easily subscribe to your new podcast feed.
- Create a link to your Feedburner feed on the wiki gallery. As a hint, the url for this page should start out with the address "http://feeds.feedburner.com/"
- Subscribe to your podcast feed using iTunes.
- Watch the about podcasts video. Write down any questions or comments you want to discuss with the class.
- Download the .mp3 of our class discussion about technology integration plans. Save it to your afs space or your googlepages space.
- Create a new post on your blog in which you write about some of the possibilities you can see for using podcasts in K-12 education. Be sure to embed a link to the .mp3 you downloaded in step 1 above so that you can complete making your podcast.
- Return to iTunes to verify that your podcast was successful.
- Get caught up on any remaining assignments. Keep in mind that your mid-term portfolio evaluations are this coming Monday, June 11th, and your polished Technology Integration Plans are due on Wednesday, June 13th. See the syllabus for greater detail.

Day 5: Adding Images Lab
In today's lab, you should:
- Explore the Creative Commons website. Add a CC license to your blog and/or portfolio. If you would like to reserve all rights for your blog/portfolio, show me that you can do add the license, then you can remove it.
- Upload one of the sample pics from ANGEL or one of your own onto a photo sharing site like Flickr or PicasaWeb. Add a link to your site on the wiki gallery.
- Create your own map mashup using Google Maps. Be sure to link your map mashup to the wiki gallery.
- Also save the KLM file for your map mashup and upload it to either your afs space or to your googlepages file space. Link to the KLM file through the wiki gallery so that people can download your map and see it in Google Earth
- Find a CC image using FlickrCC or CC Search and add it properly to a post on your blog. In this post, write about what you have learned regarding the use of images, copyright, mashing, etc. and what this will mean for your own use of images. Also comment on what challenges you think might exist in helping students to think about the use of images more critically.

Day 4: Organizing the Internet

Day 4: Organizing the Internet Lab
In today's lab, you should:
- Set up a social bookmark account and bookmark some sites of professional interest to you. Be sure to think about how you would like to tag or organize them.
- Update the “bookmarks” link on the wiki page
- Set up a calendar account and create a couple of sample events on a public calendar (you might even try subscribing to the CEP416 calendar).
- Update your “calendar” link on the wiki page.
- Create a post on your blog that discusses how you might use bookmarks and calendars a) for your personal/professional use, b) for students to use, and c) for parents to use
- Continue working on your portfolio. By now, all your major pages should be up even though they are under construction. Focus on getting your resume up by Monday.

In today's lab, you should:
- Set up an aggregator account and add a CEP416 folder within which you subscribe to each other’s blogs and the course blog.
- Update your “aggregator” link on the wiki page
- Sign up for a Google Alert to a search phrase of your choosing
- Play with iGoogle. Add some of the gadgets, move them to different places, and try out the “Add Tab” feature.
- Work on your portfolio. By Wednesday, all of your main pages should be published and linked to properly even if the content is in rough draft form.
- Create a post on your blog that where you discuss personalizing the internet for your own use and for potential use with your students.

Day 2: Web Portfolio Lab
In the lab portion of today's class, you should:
- Set up an account with Google Page Creator or another web creation site.
- Set up the major structure of your portfolio. You might want to sketch this out on paper first.
- Put text, a picture, and a link to your blog on your website's homepage.
- Update your portfolio link on the Wiki Gallery so that it links to your homepage.
- Create a new post on your blog that discusses what you want to accomplish with your portfolio and how your structuring of the portfolio will maximize your success with these goals. Be sure to give the post an appropriate label or tag.
